Current RGG are a terrible company without a doubt, but Yakuza 5 is one of the best games ever made, gotta play the series just for this

At this point you are probably only playing Yakuza 5 if you are invested in the series. While ambitious to continue using multiple protagonist like Yakuza 4 did to tell its story, unfortunately the main story ends up feeling bloated and convoluted. The story still has many great moments you would expect from this series but in between there is tons of filler such as tons of unnecessary plot twists and forced mini-games that are usually relegated to optional side content. The main story is about double the length of most of the other older yakuza games, taking me about 40 hours only participating in very little optional side content. Speaking of side content, there is tons of it ranging from mini-games to side quests. The combat is what you’d expect from an older yakuza games and each character you use feels distinct from the last, keeping combat from being repetitive. I would also like to mention that the soundtrack is really good and is one of the best in the series. All in all it feels like Sega tried to do Yakuza 4 again but with more but it goes to show that more doesn’t always make better, as most story beats are a slog to get through but when the great moments happen. Like I said at the beginning this is probably only for players invested in the series and wants to see the full story.
