Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

My game black screens when I pause the game
I bought a steam key from a reseller online (I think it was on G2A) and when i pause the game there's moderate chance of the game freezing on a black screen and all I can do is restart my pc. I've heard it's because of the cd requirement bypass but I don't know if there's a fix to it.

Limit your framerate. You are probably over 30 fps, that causes the game to instable.
Is there any other options ? 30 fps is an eyesore to play on
Yes and no.

No, because how the game is coded. The game logic and physic is tied to the frame rate, so an excessive frame rate will cause a lot of issues.

Yes because there is a mod (Framerate Vigilante) that can mitigate some of the issue of going over 30 fps. But you should not go over 60 anyway.
I'm trying to install the mod with vcmm and I can't figure it out
Use this :

You can download the whole package or only the mod you want.
I downloaded everything and the problem still happens. Although now I can close the game instead of having to restart my pc
You still have to limit the framerate in the options of the game.
Do I really have to stick with 30 fps ? isn't the point of the mod to be able to play on 60 fps ? 30 fps is really unplayable
With Framerate Vigilante installed the framerate will be limited at 60 fps instead of 30.
When i turned the frame limiter on, the game looks choppy
Is the mod properly installed ?

You should have two files in the scripts folder :

FramerateVigilante.ini
FramerateVigilante.VC.asi

Anyway, can you confirm the black screen go away when you limit the game fps ?
The black screen is still there for a few frames but isn't an issue anymore, the game looked choppy for like 1 mission. The game runs well now except for occasional lag spikes that only happen while driving fast
Use the silent patch

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQTcbAd79ug

https://gtaforums.com/topic/669045-silentpatch/

and put them in the main game folder.

When playing the game, goto controller, then set to STANDARD
The problem is fixed now thanks to the community patch

People keep saying that the game breaks if you're "playing at more than 30 FPS" or if you're "playing at 60 FPS", but that is simply not true. You can play through the whole game at 60 FPS as long as you actually CAP your frame rate. Most people just seem to disable the in-game frame limiter without enabling any other FPS caps, which then causes the game to run at several hundred frames per second. But for some reason everyone thinks it's 60.
