Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III arrived with massive expectations, serving as a direct sequel to 2022’s Modern Warfare II as a new so called DLC. Developed primarily by Sledgehammer Games in collaboration with Infinity Ward, this entry attempts to strike a delicate balance between nostalgic fan service and mechanical evolution. The result is a package that feels like a mixed bag: an underwhelming narrative experience countered by some of the most fluid and satisfying multiplayer gameplay the franchise has seen in years.

The Campaign: A Direct Sequel with a Identity Crisis

The campaign picks up right where the previous game left off, focusing on Task Force 141 as they hunt down the infamous ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov. While the cinematic presentation, acting, and facial animations are top-tier, the story suffers from pacing issues and a controversial design choice: Open Combat Missions.

The Good: Makarov is genuinely menacing, and the traditional, linear cinematic missions feature the high-octane set pieces Call of Duty is known for., only the whole minus of this campaign is ending. it has been left off as the most horrible ending call of duty has ever saw in many years, it completly feels unfinished

The Another Bad thing about Campaign: The Open Combat Missions feel less like a crafted campaign and more like single-player Warzone matches with bots. They lack the tight scripting that makes CoD campaigns memorable, often making the narrative feel disjointed and rushed.

Verdict on Campaign: Visually stunning but narratively underwhelming. It feels more like a bridge to the next game rather than a fully realized standalone story, with a sloppy ending.

Multiplayer: Possibly best multiplayer in the last 8 years?

If the campaign is the low point, the Multiplayer component is where Modern Warfare III truly shines. Sledgehammer Games listened closely to community feedback and delivered a gameplay experience that feels incredibly fast and responsive.

The Map Pool: At launch, the game featured all 16 iconic maps from the original 2009 Modern Warfare 2, fully remastered. Maps like Terminal, Highrise, and Rust look beautiful and play exceptionally well with modern mechanics.

Movement and Gunplay: Mechanical changes are the real hero here. The return of slide canceling, reload canceling, and the introduction of the Tac-Stance (Tactical Stance) make the movement feel fast, fluid, and smooth to use.

Time-to-Kill (TTK): The health pool was increased to 150, resulting in a longer TTK compared to MWII. This rewards consistent tracking and better aim, making gunfights feel much more competitive.

Final verdict and thoughts
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is a game of contrasts. It is hard to ignore that the game initially felt like it was intended to be a massive expansion for its predecessor. However, as a complete package, it functions as a highly polished refinement of the modern CoD formula.

If you are buying this solely for a deep single-player story, you might leave disappointed. But if you are a fan of fast-paced multiplayer, nostalgic maps, and cooperative open-world survival, Modern Warfare III is one of the most mechanically satisfying entries in the franchise to date.

Final Score: 7.5 / 10
