Probably my favorite colony sim / builder since Frostpunk. Definitely not for everyone and has some gargantuan difficulty spikes. Save often and be prepared to reload when it all goes wrong. The game forces you to strike a balance between building up to prepare for the next "thing" while not staying too long so that resources or stability become critical. Very possible to get yourself into a doom spiral - did I mention to save often?

Ultimately if you like grueling survival builders like Frostpunk / Banished etc, you'll probably enjoy struggling through Ixion.
