Early Access Review
Some of the highest-quality stuff I've seen from such a small team. Everything just feels SMOOTH. The soundtrack is solid, animations are beautiful, colors work nicely, the gameplay loop is simple but addictive, and the mechanics/puzzles are intuitive. Probably one of the only games I will never need QoL mods for, because the devs clearly put so much love into making it, that every little detail is refined. I would gladly pay for cosmetics if they allowed it, but as of right now, the only thing you have to buy is the base game - no Battle Pass or purchasable skins.

I cannot recommend this game more, as I am writing this during early access and it is already more fully fleshed out (and functional) than most AAA games out there. I am excited to see where it goes!

Early Access Review
An intentionally vague and misleadingly simple game, that truly outdoes itself even in early access. Great scares, environments, worlds, and atmospheres. Hope to see this game continue to expand and improve!

I would like to see a permanent progress system of some sort though, kind of sucks to lose an entire run and start back from square one. Also sometimes RNG is really unforgiving and can make a lot of scenarios impeccable. Perhaps some parameters to ensure the player doesn't just get roadblocked? (i.e. 2 coilheads, a bracken, 2 turrets, a spider, and 2 landmines should not be able to START OFF watching the same stairway/room)

Either way, insanely fun game with friends (also hopefully the player limit can be increased from 4)

literally the dream zombie apocalypse game. does it like no other. i did not think such a simple-presenting game could be so intricate.

This game truly brings something brilliant and unique to the table when it comes to MMOs. I am really happy to see the work AGS has been doing on this game since its messy launch and slumps; I initially gave up on this game out of frustration but it is honestly coming alive again.

Bugs are fixed en masse.
One of my biggest gripes with NW was how insanely unpolished and messy it was. Main story progress was softlocked for so many players, quests did not function properly, performance declined across all PC specs...I could go on. AGS has done a great job of addressing these bugs and smoothing out HUNDREDS of bugs in one patch.

Combat in PVP and PVE alike is fluid, simple, and satisfying, yet challenging all the while.
Do you want to be a standard Sword/Shield player? A Lifestaff Healer? Too plain? How about a Blunderbuss and an Ice Gauntlet? Oh you changed your mind? Nice and easy switch. You can choose to build your own unique playstyle, perks, weapons, gear, etc, however you want; there is no set rules for 'classes'. Spend time learning intricate combos you can perform for insane damage/debuffs/cc.

DO WHATEVER U WANT!
Do you just wanna chill and farm/harvest/explore the beautifully crafted Aeternum, undisturbed by other players, after a hard day at work? Are you bloodthirsty and seeking PVP in Arenas or Outpost Rush or Wars? Maybe making 500 pieces of jewelry to sell to other players is your thing. Or you could farm whatever event is going on. You are genuinely free to experience this game in any way you like, and I have yet to run out of things to do or progress in.

WHAT ABOUT THE DLC?
I'm somewhat disappointed that mounts, a zone, and flail are behind a paywall. I much rather would have expansions be part of the base game, especially since AGS has normally done a good job of sticking to Buy Once, then Free to Play, since the beginning of NW's life cycle. However, if you do end up loving this game, I think it is well worth it. If you cannot justify the price, that's ok! Mounts have not made a marginal difference in my travelling since Azoth (material used for fast travelling) is plentiful and easy to get without focusing it, plus fast travel spots are littered throughout the land. The Flail is a niche utility weapon that only specific builds will use, and most players will find themselves getting more value out of literally any other base game weapon. Elysian Wilds (the zone that comes with the dlc) on the other hand, is quite nice to have access to.

Overall, I think New World once again has a good future ahead of it as one of the greatest MMOs of the decade. Is it flawless, or even close to it? Not at all. But to see a game being taken care of well like this is rare, and I plan on sticking with this game for a long time. I encourage you to explore each and every aspect of this game.
