Updated Review: As I got further through the game, I started to have more fun. Not really because the game got better, because it doesn't, but there's one specific weapon that actually feels decent to use (probably because it makes use of ranged attacks, where the stupid mechanic of teleporting across the map to attack the person I wasn't even looking at doesn't take effect).

However, upon getting to the Ryu chapters, there's a startling realization. You start by fighting the boss you literally just beat as Yakumo. You've done these maps before. You've done these bosses before. And Ryu has one weapon. There is no variety. You walk through recycled maps, fight recycled bosses, and just get told to deal with it. Sure, it has lore importance, as Ryu is the one who sealed the demons away for use at the Dark Dragon shrines. But that's not fun. There's no new experience to be had as Ryu, really, and so as much as I hate that he isn't the main playable character, at this point, why include him literally at all?

The game seems to take all the jank that MGR:R had and slapped a Ninja Gaiden coat of paint on it. And while that might be great for some people, hell I even like MGR:R up to a point, I think the game suffers as a result.

Would I recommend this game? Maybe. Was the last review filled with rage? Yes, understandably. This doesn't feel like Ninja Gaiden, this feels like they wanted to make another MGR:R game, but only had Ninja Gaiden assets to work with. They even have an annoying edgy protagonist, complete with a Revengeance mode.

Updated Further: Finished game, didn't receive credit for several story based achievements despite being online the whole time. It just works I guess.

Yakumo ends up getting Ryu's moveset, complete with the Gleam attacks that use the same bar the Bloodbind stuff does. The end, or at least what I saw of it, seems to make Yakumo out to be the ongoing protagonist for future projects. I wouldn't know, cause about halfway through of dealing with the cringe dialogue and characters I didn't care about, I started skipping cutscenes because they didn't feel like they added anything to anyone's character.

Absolute fantastic game, from the visual to the gameplay to the music. I started off thinking it was a piece of Eastern mythology game and was REALLY intrigued upon realizing the scifi aspects of it. I will recommend this to many.

Good DLC, if you say otherwise I assume you're bad at the game. I've had no issues playing this through on NG+.

Yeah ok idk how you ♥♥♥♥ up your flamethrowers by not just extending the hitbox of the flames but instead MOVING it to the reach the new range but NOT making sure there wasn't a massive gap at the front of the gun that DOES NOTHING CAUSE YOU ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ MOVED THE HITBOX INSTEAD OF EXTENDING IT.
Been like this for nearly 3 weeks.
This company is full of buffoons and morons who got lucky and have decided that instead of learning how to do things properly they were just gonna do nothing. The best thing we've gotten recently is Exomechs not being made of paper, but they also bundled that with durable damage increases on enemies, which ♥♥♥♥♥ over the sentries cause they received zero compensation.
They don't know what they are doing. Avoid this game till they figure it out.

Very good and fun game, just wish there was a way for me to play with my friends who have less than good internet. Reliance on servers means we can't connect (internet trash out here with my buddies). But other than that it's a fantastic game. Really unique setting and overall very fun

If Dark Souls was 2D...that's pretty much what this is.

This game shows some real potential to be one of my new favorites. I love sandboxie type games and I love FPS games, so this is a nice mix of the two. Keep up the good work CodeHatch, I'm excited to see what will come next!
