Absolutely beautiful game. Everything is near perfect. The weight of the jets, can almost feel the air. The combat is zesty and gorgeous levels of impact. Story is pretty much anime Top Gun.

Unfortunately I had to refund because the game isn't for me. I gave it a whirl thinking I could like it and re-ignite the spark I have on the old days of Ace Combat 1 to 3, but I guess air space/flight movement is no longer for me.

The best Borderlands to date in terms of combat and gameplay (Borderlands 2 and Handsome Jack will always be the best in terms of storyline. They set that diamond bar too high, but that's not a bad thing)... till Borderlands 4 fixes their s***

It's a good game... if it stops crashing. (@edit: They fixed crashing!)

The grind is fine. People complaining like this wasn't a Wargaming staple. World of Tanks/Warplanes/Battleships take so much longer to reach Tier 10 units. People also forget to factor that battle passes reward credits. The first tier just drops 20k in your lap.

Microtransactions is again a Wargaming thing. People pay to skip grinds for a F2P game. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Combat is good. I like the CoD style but slower pace. Abilities are good and agents feel unique. Contrary to what so many people are saying, NOT every gun penetrates every armor. You need to learn to place your shots according to the penetration power of your current ammo. Sure, just spam HE to guarantee damage, but you won't get to hit internal critical boxes nor will you have good damage unless your target is paper.

Battle Pass is a nice break. Graphics is BF6 beautiful without the collision, physics, and Michael Bay effects.

Ngl, it's great! Combat is awesome and it doesn't require you to be oversaturated with enemies to have a semblance of challenge

Quite satisfying gameplay loop! Scratches multiple itches in the form of 3rd person shooter with roguelite dungeon crawler... with all the bells and whistles of a rather predatory mobile gacha (Looking at you, CoD Mobile, Punishing Grey: Raven, etc).

Nearly Rogueteers you can actually unlock by just playing the game, Heynckes included (but requires religiously playing the game to unlock him via the free pass exchange). The only one you can't unlock is Gloria (which requires spending a bit of dosh via value pack).

There's some weapons locked to the gacha, just like mobile gachas.

Absolutely fun "hero brawler" with an extra mode for extraction junkies. By fun, I mean do not look too much into the balance aspect because the classes are built into a semi-complex rock-paper-scissors kind of counter; and with no way to swap mecha during the battle, matches barely get equal and compositions of teams before a match starts bring a larger factor in deciding the battle's outcome more than other hero brawlers. On the upside, this brings a fresh perspective than having to always counter-swap until every lineup looks the same and stale (*cough* Overwatch)

There's absolutely no P2W for this game. The Marketplace is a player driven economy similar to Warframe. And players are allowed to sell loot they've earned for sucessfully extracting in Mashmak. Most mods have downsides to equipping them, so it's not exactly straight up upgrades either. Weapons are one time use and they disappear if you fail to extract with it in your inventory on your next couple runs.

I've seen reviews claiming the microtransactions are atrociously expensive. They're not. They're only referring to what is an equivalent of Warframe's Prime Access bundle (without any stat bonuses coming with a Prime Warframe), in the form of Ace Pilots and legendary skins. They DO NOT alter stats at all nor do they offer something different from the original mecha. They're just skins. Straight up. You DO NOT need to buy this if it's not your fancy. There's individual pieces available for cheaps that allow you to customize your pilot to the way you want it to look. And even then, you can earn the paid currency by extracting good loot from Mashmak mode then dabbling in the Marketplace.

All mechas can be earned by just playing the game. 12 can be obtained straight off the bat, while the 3 are locked to a respectable grind (and you're even allowed to trial them completely free for 7 days).

This is a game catered to both casuals and hardcore mecha fans. If you're new, matches have bots to hold your hand and still make you feel good until you're good enough to last longer against the hardcore playerbase. If you're hardcore and wanna show up your skills, you can quickly climb through the ranks and into the brackets where there's barely any bots left and you can tear each other apart.

If anything, my cons for this game at the time of writing is mostly QoL. Missions in Operations do not tell you the match type before you and your team select your mechas, and only when everything's locked and in loading will find out. You can currently bypass this by memorizing the map names because they come with fixed objectives, or just have a note. Some mechas are also outliers in the balance, with strong strengths but with weaknesses the playerbase has yet to see so let's hope the devs make them a little more transparent. Gacha supply crates are also limited to 30 every 45 days, so if you aren't religiously playing Mashmak mode in the hardest difficulty, you might wanna pull out your wallet to buy from those grinding for it.

TLDR: Fun game. No P2W. Don't take it (and your losses) seriously. Smooth sailing so far with some QoLs it could use.
