Thought I should update this for 2026.

I’ve been playing this for several years by this point.

Shadowkeep: unfortunate content, ending in Arrivals, which was brilliant (even if it took half the game with it).

Beyond Light: Narratively interesting, cool location & brilliant seasonal content, for the most part.

Witch Queen: Truly Bungie’s Magnum Opus. Narrative success, campaign was perfection. Brilliant.

Lightfall (so far): Oh dear god.

FInal Shape: Where the franchise should've ended. A story to tie up loose ends, one of the meatiest DLC drops to date and what should've been the perfect send off for Destiny 2.

The Episodes: Largely nothingburgers that aimed to tie up loose ends but almost always ended up spawning more.

Edge of Fate: An attempt to innovate the game and make it fresh for new and existing players. Smaller DLC, lacks a ton of content and the new gear tier system renders everything other than the DLC content obsolete. Also the Portal sucks. Also the ball mechanic made me feel sick. Also the story kinda blew. Also the mid-season update was a nothingburger. Also the game is dying.

Renegades: haha lightsabers (games cooked)

Overall, a once great video game with a very ‘love-hate’ relationship built upon an inconsistent foundation, almost entirely obliterated by serial incompetence at the top of Bungie. But it's all good, go play Marathon now :)
