This is genuinely one of the most interesting Garlic-likes I've ever played, right up there with DRG: Survivors.

Pros: I really like the concept of the gameplay, the idea of having this city you get to build up over time and collect resources for to upgrade is genuinely super cool. The resource gathering mechanics making you have to balance whether you should focus on defending the city in the short term or collect more resources to upgrade it for the long term is very interesting and sets up for a fun gameplay loop.

The art style is very cool, and I like the designs for the monsters. The designs for the heroes as well are very interesting, and the art in general is just peak.

The team seems genuinely interested in improving the game and takes suggestions from the community all the time. Just from when I've started, they've added heroes, relics, a ton of new weapons, rewards for achievements, etc.

Overall, this is an abbreviated list, but it's very cool. However, here is where I get into my major issues with the game.

Cons: First off, one of the most important of all of them to me. The music is...not great. It doesn't fit the vibe of the game whatsoever, it sounds super disjointed, and it's so bad at points that it genuinely takes me out of the game. Including some other things with the sound design, like the random horns playing after you defeat the Bosses. But the music is genuinely one of the biggest issues on an aesthetic level I have. Music is INCREDIBLY important to the longevity of a game.

The second issue I have is the scaling of the enemies. ESPECIALLY on higher difficulties. I understand that it's optional, but there's zero fun to be had when the scaling of the enemies outscales you unless you get some god-tier perfect build. It's literally just gambling at that point, with no skill involved. The game should not be balanced around the 1% of the playerbase that blitzes the game. There's a reason less than 7% of people have beat nightmare mode if I remember correctly.

Long story short, genuinely really high potential game that has been getting better and better, but still has some issues that need to be addressed. If they're fixed, this will genuinely be my favourite Garlic-like other than Vampire Survivors and DRG: Survivors.

Absolutely peak, I would kiss Lyle 1000 more times if the game were to allow it. It is also insane that a game this good isn't even finished all the way yet, all things considered. The art is phenomenal, the character designs are amazing, the emotional parts hit me like a truck, and all around it is just an absolutely amazing game. I cannot count the amount of times I felt awful about killing an enemy because of who they were before the events of the game.

This game NEEDS more attention, because it's pretty much a crime that it is as underrated as it is. I understand some people might be put off by it being an RPG, but I can assure you, the story and characters make up for it infinityfold. Buy it. Support the devs. Go and draw fanart. (The last one is to feed my hyperfixation on this game).

Absolutely peak, has joined one of the very few games in my library that I've 100 percented. I haven't been this emotionally distraught and terrified since I played through Echo, which is saying a lot. Buy it! Buy it now. Join me in my autistic hyperfixations.

Genuinely great game. Has entered my hall of games actually worth 100%ing. The "Can't Cat-ch Me" achievement was legitimately more difficult than speedrunning the game in under 2 hours.

Honestly a really good game, I don't normally do a full-scale comment but Project Moon deserves it. Forgiving Gacha rates, forgiving amount of lunacy you receive, the best story out of any Gacha Game I've played, and the best setting out of any Gacha Game I've played. The gameplay is also really fun as well. I also enjoy how literally every single sinner is fueled by autism in their own unique way.

Meursault is still the best character though. Don Quixote is pretty cool as well.

Edit: As time has gone on, things have gotten significantly more rough with the gacha elements in the game. Character IDs that are objectively the worst in the game never receive updates or buffs because of the fact that it is a gacha game, Walpurgisnacht removes the sharding mechanic just to try to FOMO people into spending money, rolls on enemies keep getting higher and higher while the prices of leveling up characters to keep up just keeps getting more expensive. Walpurgisnacht events continue to keep the majority of the rewards locked behind the ID or EGO that releases with the event.

Don't get me wrong, Limbus has the best story out of any gacha game I've ever played, as well as gameplay, as is to be expected of PM. However, the main problem is that it is a GACHA GAME. It is an inherently predatory practice that continues to rear its' ugly head over and over again as time goes on, and as more and more IDs are released that are objectively better than the previous IDs.

This is a masterpiece of storytelling, art design, and gameplay...But it's all locked behind the fact that to access a lot of it, you'll have to grind mirror dungeons every week for months, do every event, and just pray that you get lucky enough or get enough shards to get the IDs or (even rarer) EGOs.

It is with all of this in mind that I will be changing this positive review into a negative review, until hopefully they finally pull their heads out of the money pit and consider the health of their consumers.
