To sumamrize a discussion with one of my best friends who also plays this game, the feel and spirit of Star Trek is represented well. The space portion is very satisfying and the roleplaying oppertunieis are abundant. The ground part seems like an after thought. If they would trash the engine/mechanics and clone Mass Effect or Borderlands styles then readd the ground officer skils and traits I think the universe would come together in a more enjoyable experience for Star Trek and new to the franchise fans.

Player oranization system is functional enough to excel my needs. It only took me 2 months of casual playing to hit the maxmium level of 50 where the non PVP content really suffers in scope giving the only on-going progression via the STF missions. If you don't like grind games you will probably be taking a break from STO until Season 6 launches which promises some needed changes to the RP system overall as well as expanding on promised features back in the 2006-2007 dev blog
