Early Access Review
It's the refresh of DRG that I've been waiting for.
Depth 1 and 2 give a generous timer, but it can feel short if you're not used to the mission structure
Once you start unlocking perks for your character and learning how all the events work it will feel easy
The randomized nature of the game keeps each run interesting, and sometimes you can pull off insanely strong builds
Depth 3 and 4 are a nice challenge and require all players on your team to be pulling their weight
Based on what the devs have planned for the first round of updates, I'm confident they are listening to all player feedback and they are making good changes

Game is in a fine state for early access, most of the bad reviews seem to be from people who booted the game once on their low end PC and then just turned it right off after dying once. It runs fine on my PC, only one DC and a couple lag spikes on day 1 servers. If you've played the first game, you'll be used to how the melee combat can be a little janky at times, but once you learn how each weapon swings and how sometimes the zombies will lunge faster than expected it becomes a lot easier. you're mostly supposed to herd and run through the zombies instead of fight them directly when you can. I've reached max level on a character once already and having the difficulty scale with character level is a nice touch. The zombies are meant to be difficult to kill and able to easily trap you if you're not careful. If you're a fan of Co-op horde shooters and like to play them on higher difficulty this is an easy pick up IMO, especially if you have some friends to play with. If some early access bugs will bother you, if your PC can't run Unreal 5, if you don't like the horde shooter genre, or if only one large map with the same final objective isn't enough content for you; you should skip this game or let it cook some more before purchase.

I enjoyed this game when it first came out. Exploring to find the secret chest in each area while vacuuming up loot, doing the dungeons and discovering the secret bosses and the farming them to get the best weapon mods possible and find the rare pokemons, running my own little shop and building a base and moving it where I wanted on the map and jumping off of mountains and gliding around. The game was a lot of fun. However doing this same type of content over and over again gets stale, regardless of the server reset or not (You level up so fast it literally doesn't matter). Most of the enemies are stupid guys that can be one shot and are only a threat if there is an overwhelming amount of them. The elite enemies are a little more interesting, but there's only a few in each camp and they're not much smarter. The new mechanic they've added with season 2 is that some elite enemies now have a "Deviation type" which means the enemies is literally invincible unless u shoot it with one of two specific weapon types, so if that's not your build you just can't fight the enemy which is just kinda lame, and the world bosses are the same way, u need to shoot the boss with missiles for a few minutes before you can actually damage it, and its mostly just a giant lag fest with little mechanics besides the boss becoming invincible again at 10% hp and insta-killing the raid if you do the wrong thing. Basically a huge wasted potential here with the different damage types and builds players can do being kinda meaningless beyond the invincibility mechanic. Also the survival mechanics in the game are kinda pointless including the temp system they just added in season 3. You just build the temp resist in the armor you're already crafting and have the eat specific food to keep warm like you were already doing to keep full or you insta die or otherwise have a minor unnoticeable debuff. It's basically just a tedious thing you need to do, getting food and water isn't hard at all. The new areas they added in season 3 is like half the size of the original map and the main quest sends you to the hardest area first so I beat the hardest content current of that area in like an hour or 2 and already had the highest tier of gun for this part of the season.

Premise is super cool and it scratches the left 4 dead itch, but the game is super janky and im pretty sure in source so graphics aren't crazy, gun/level variety isn't good, but it's super early access so that's all forgivable, but they just introduced "the infinity pass" so dead game RIP

If you like Left4Dead or Payday or Killing Floor or Deep Rock Galactic or any other horde shooter, you will probably like this game. The graphics are good, the deck building system is good, the gunplay is good, and I like the characters and world building they do.
The devs are quick to address issues and feedback from the community and are clearly passionate about their game. It takes them about a month to push out patches because this game has crossplay with consoles, but they are super transparent about what they are working on, and own up if they make a mistake.
The worst part of this game is by far the community. There's some cool people playing, but you'll sometimes run into trolls/griefers or people with no comms on highest difficulty. People are review bombing the game because they thought the game was too hard before December when they had to nerf all the difficulties or because the game doesn't have the same versus mode from left4dead. But look at how many people are playing the game for literally hundreds of hours lol

This game is the best Co-op shooter out there right now. It has distinct classes, random level generation, terrain destruction and creation, variety of mission types, good pace of updates, late game content, good community, character customization and progression, good sound design, and responsive developers. The game has a lot of cool nuances that make it very enjoyable to me. If you put a lot of hours into co-op shooters like left 4 dead, payday, or killing floor you will put a lot of hours into this game. For Karl!
