Pretty fun blend of a life simulation and an optimization problem. Before you start a run you select a starting ability and a set of aspirations, which basically determine how you are going to "live your life". In the run itself you try to balance resources, utilize the cards available to you and your starting ability to achieve your aspirations.

I like how you start the game with a plan to achieve the said aspirations, but then the cards you are dealt and the random events you face try to tug you in different directions. They sometimes pull you away from your aspirations, requiring you to focus back on them later in life. Definitely an interesting gamification of living life.

I have spent a lot of time playing this game, and I had a blast. The game is awesome, there is no denying that.

Then why the negative review?

Because behind this heavenly game lies the devil: Paradox Games. They used to be a small studio which made games for its own little fanbase. Today, they have a rather anti-consumer DLC policy. They have released unnecessary amounts of unnecessary DLCs, mostly for EU4. Mare Nostrum, Common Sense and the Cossacks are just a few of them. What is worse is that fundamental game mechanics are sold with these shallow DLCs. For example, if you don't own the Common Sense DLC, you cannot improve your provinces; thus the base tax, manpower and the amount of buildings you can build in a province stays the same for the entire 400 years you play in the game.

Like I said at the start, this game is incredible, but understand that it is a significant investment with all the DLCs. If you plan on playing it for a couple of months, you should consider the DLC subscription thingie they released.

-I was playing as the celibate 64 year old Emperor of Byzantine
-My wife got pregnant
-She said that she was blessed by the God like Virgin Mary
-My emperor convinced himself that this was true and spend the next 9 months praying to God for what he has done
-After 9 months the baby is born
-I named him Jesus II
-Later i realized that the baby was inbred

69/11 Would castrate my wife's lover again
