FAQ About In-Game Items

Oct 18

What are in-game items?

Deep Russian Depression in-game items are items that are sold on the Deep Russian Depression game page in the Steam shop and stored in the user's inventory.

Where and how can I get these items?

Unlike in other games, Deep Russian Depression in-game items do not drop during playtime. The only way to get an item is to buy it in the shop or on the Market.

Importantly, the developer has no ability to create copies of items "out of thin air" for themselves or others. Therefore, you can be absolutely sure that every existing item holds real value, as real money was spent on its "creation," which went towards the development and promotion of games within the Deep Russian Depression franchise.

And why should I spend money on these items?

First of all, it is the best way to support the development of Deep Russian Depression, but several options for the practical use of these items will be implemented in the near future.

The first option: in-game items are in-game items. And while the current version of Deep Russian Depression is designed in a way that leaves no room for in-game items, everything might change in subsequent versions. Moreover, the game's new development team is already thinking about how to implement items in future projects of the Deep Russian Depression franchise, which will share a single unified Steam inventory with the original game.

The second option: the ability to decorate your Steam profile showcases. Unfortunately, this option is not available yet, because we haven't sold the number of game copies required to remove all limitations within the Steam community. When this happens, in-game items can be used to their full potential, and badges, trading cards, profile backgrounds, and emoticons will also be added so that your profile accurately conveys the entire atmosphere of Deep Russian Depression!

The third option: the opportunity to speculate and gamble a bit. Yes, surely some of you or your friends have bought NFTs or bananas hoping to make a profit, but everyone knows how that ended: NFTs remained the same unclaimed PNGs they always were, and there are so many bananas on the Market now that if they were real, they could feed the whole of Africa!

In the case of Deep Russian Depression, everything is different — copies of items are not created out of thin air, cannot be duplicated, and are strictly limited in supply, and having them in a user's inventory implies that they made a significant contribution to the development of the franchise at its dawn. Who knows, maybe it will pay off in the future?

In any case, purchasing items is a purely voluntary matter, and we value every member of the Deep Russian Depression game community, regardless of the contents of their inventory!

A new mini-collection celebrating the upcoming holiday!

As a rule, the release of new items is timed to coincide with important upcoming events. And therefore, we present to you a new mini-collection of two items with a Halloween theme!

Note: these items will leave the shop FOREVER on November 1, 2026 (UTC+14), and the final supply will be permanently established. Each purchased item affects the collection's final supply. The guaranteed contribution to the supply from the developer is unknown.

Collection «Jack-o'-lanterns»

Items from this collection are available in the shop until November 1, 2026 (UTC+14). After this date, they can only be purchased on the Market (subject to availability).

And there is BURMALDA even here!

In addition to mini-collections, there is another concept for items — regular collections. The key difference is that you never know what you will end up getting!

While items from the collection are being sold in the shop, they are represented as five identical items, which currently are empty three-liter jars called Just a Jar. Each of the jars has a serial number (No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5), and that is their only difference. For now.
When the time comes, the empty jars will disappear from the shop, and the purchased jars in users' inventories will fill up with something unexpected: all No. 1 jars will receive one specific content, No. 2 will receive a second one, and so on. After that, the community itself will decide which of the jars turned out to be more valuable and will be able to influence the prices of already filled jars on the Market.

And this is where the burmalda and the excitement of what is happening lie: you never know which of the five items will be in demand and which will turn out to be junk. You can buy a copy of each empty jar in the shop to guarantee a full collection right now, or you can invest all your money into a single one, hoping that it is the one that will be sought after by the community!

Note: these items will leave the shop FOREVER on November 1, 2026 (UTC+14), and the final supply will be permanently established. Each purchased item affects the collection's final supply. The guaranteed contribution to the supply from the developer is unknown.

Collection «Holy Moley Jars»

Five identical items from this collection are available in the shop until November 1, 2026 (UTC+14), after which it will be impossible to buy them, and all previously purchased items will update their appearance and description in the inventories of their owners. When this happens, the updated items from this collection can be sold or bought only on the Market from other users.

Mini-collections from the past

Below are the two debut collections where it all began. These items will never appear in the shop again, and their supply is limited and will no longer change.

Mini-collection «Bonehead»

These items were sold in the shop previously, but are now available only on the Market.

Mini-collection «Slavic Ancestors»

These items were sold in the shop previously, but are now available only on the Market.

The New Era of Deep Russian Depression

Oct 1

Forget everything you knew about Deep Russian Depression — a new game, new characters, and a brand-new storyline are now available to all owners of the original game!

Without a shadow of a doubt, the reality surrounding us is woven from an infinite multitude of wondrous metamorphoses capable of fundamentally overturning the habitual perception of things that just yesterday seemed absolutely unshakable, clear, and thoroughly studied down to the smallest details. Over a rather lengthy period of time, measured by long months of weary waiting, skeptical forecasts, and turbulent discussions within the community, devoted connoisseurs of the original concept endlessly wondered about the exact direction in which the universe, which had become a kind of digital sanctuary for many, would develop. And so, at the very moment when the hands of the clock signaled the dawn of a new era, the veil of secrecy finally fell, revealing to the world a colossal, truly tectonic update, the scale of which goes far beyond the usual understanding of standard patches or content additions.

If one attempts to subject the monumental volume of work carried out behind the studio’s closed doors to deep mental analysis, it becomes evident that we are witnessing not merely an evolutionary step, but a genuine qualitative leap into the unknown. The developers did not limit themselves to superficial cosmetic changes, the polishing of old mechanics, or the banal correction of minor technical bugs that frequently occur on the thorny path of indie game development. Instead, they made a compromise-free, bold, and in many ways risky decision to completely rethink the established foundation, constructing in its place a fundamentally different, much deeper, and multi-faceted artistic structure. This rebirth, like a breath of fresh frosty air in the stifling space of panel-building corridors, completely erases former boundaries, forcing everyone who launches the game to experience an incomparable sense of discovery.

The undeniable fact that this grand layer of innovations is being made available to the general public without any additional conditions or hidden transactions deserves special and close attention. Every loyal fan who once believed in the project and supported it during its early stages of formation now receives a unique opportunity to touch a completely new product created from scratch, yet retaining that very same unique mental DNA for which thousands of players fell in love with the project. The game world has expanded, its breath has grown deeper, and the atmosphere has acquired a monolithic density capable of consuming one without a trace. All that remains for us is to take this decisive step toward the inevitable and see for ourselves just how far human imagination can go in its attempt to recreate the aesthetics of eternal, all-consuming melancholy.
