Huge Update!

Oct 20

We're excited to present a big update!

🌍 New Infinite World

A brand-new generator for the infinite multi-biome world.
The world is taller: 128 blocks of sky have been added, raising the height of the infinite world from 512 to 640 blocks. Saved worlds will expand automatically the first time they load, no action needed.
New distant chunk rendering system: view distance of up to 512 chunks.
Lava and light-emitting blocks (such as lanterns) now glow at a distance too, so lava lakes and village lights can be seen from far away.
New "Empty" map type: start building your own map from scratch.

🗺️ World Map and Minimap

Place markers on the map and teleport to them, and see other players on the infinite map.
Press U to place a marker right at your current position. This way, teleporting takes you to exactly the height you need, not just to the surface.
Shared markers: admins and map owners can tick a checkbox when creating a marker, and every player will see it.

🛠️ New Building Tools

Elevation: raise and lower the terrain to create mountains and valleys.
Shapes: cube, sphere, cone, tube, pyramid, gable roof, torus and plane. Up to 96 blocks in size, with each axis set separately. Shapes can be made hollow, and spheres and tori can be cut off at the bottom, for example to make a dome.
Stack: select part of a build and duplicate it. Drag the colored arrows on the sides of the selection or scroll the mouse wheel, and the copies will line up in a row, a column or a whole grid. Perfect for pillars, fences, floors, rows of windows and bridge spans.
Brush: the radius has grown from 8 to 50, so large areas can be repainted in a single stroke. Even at a large radius, the brush doesn't slow the game down.
The tool menu now has two rings. If you release the key on a category, the tool you last used in it gets selected.

🌅 Graphics and Atmosphere

Dynamic volumetric clouds.
Height fog.
A tool for setting the weather and time of day on your map.
New water material. Water now fits neatly against the shapes of solid blocks.
New ice and glass materials.
Improved lighting:
- shadows from buildings no longer fall straight down as a solid black patch: they now spread smoothly and gradually deepen under overhangs;
- light sources shine farther and brighter;
- decorations are lit by lava the same way as the terrain (especially noticeable with the dynamic sky, which uses a higher-quality lighting model).
Eye adaptation to lighting, which can be turned off in the settings.

⚙️ Settings and Controls

New game settings menu with a "Controls" section where you can rebind any key used in the game. If you're missing a binding for something, let us know!

🔧 Optimization and Fixes

Infinite maps load many times faster, with fewer freezes.
Reduced video memory and RAM usage.
Blocks picked up from the terrain can now be placed even if you haven't bought them in your profile.
First-person hands no longer jitter far from the world center (previously the jitter started as close as 2,000 blocks away).
Fixed falling through chunks on infinite maps.
Fixed crashes on maps with models created from terrain.
Fixed infinite world synchronization bugs.
Infinite worlds are now saved to Steam Cloud and automatically synced across your devices.

Thanks for playing! If you find any bugs or have ideas, let us know in the Steam discussions or in our Telegram. https://t.me/diggergameofficial
