Small fixes, more robust saves, and fun with fur!

Nov 5

Hello! 🐰

In this small update, we've made some improvements to save file robustness and performance on large islands! 💪 We've had 2 players report save issues so far, so we spent some time to make saving more robust in hopes of preventing this issue from ever happening again.

Fun With Fur!

In addition, we had a bit of fun playing with the fur particles - Now when you pet/groom a bunny, there is a chance some of their fur will stick to your hand / brush 😆 If you've have/had pets, you can probably relate to this! 🐰

Don't worry, the fur falls off in a few moments, or you can flick your cursor to shake it off! 👋

However, if prefer to not see any fur particles, you can always turn them off in the Island Settings menu (island icon):

Getting Help

By the way, we just want to remind everyone that if you encounter an issue in the game, please reach out to us from the Settings menu > Contact Support. If the menu is inaccessible, we're reachable via email as well at support \[at] usagishima.net![usagishima.net!]

Planned Future QoL

We also plan to implement in the next update:

A "Mute All" button in the Settings

A toggle to lower the frequency of mini games
Automatically moving Mako the hat shopkeeper when you place something over them

After the launch stabilizes, I'll share the game's bigger future roadmap in a later post! 🐰

Thanks everyone! ❤️
P.S. We are absolutely loving all the screenshots everyone is sharing, keep em coming!! 😍🐰

New Motion Sickness Options

Oct 31

Hello everybun! 🐰

We have been overwhelmed by everyone's warm enthusiasm and kind support since launch, thank you all so much! 😭💖🐇

I've received some feedback about motion sickness and have implemented two new options to hopefully help ease this. Please check if you're on version 1.0.7 for these fixes!

New "Background Speed" option in the Settings

Some people have reported feeling dizzy looking at UI menus because of the scrolling background.

Now you can turn that off in the Settings! Look for "background speed" and move the slider all the way to the left to disable movement completely.

Disable Moving Bun Run Background

Additionally, I've gotten reports that the parallax background in Bun Run can induce motion sickness.

Now, you can turn that off in the Island Settings menu (the island icon).

Disabling Mini Games

If there is a mini-game that is not enjoyable, we'd also like to remind folks that you can turn off specific mini-games in the Island Settings menu (island icon).

While Bun Run can be helpful in the early game to earn gold carrots, bunnies will naturally gift you gold after a little friendship and attention! 💖🐰We've also slightly tuned the gold drops in the beginning so that even strangers have a little more chance to give you gold. Hopefully this helps!

Other Misc Fixes

Vertical Monitors

We've gotten reports about broken UI layouts on vertical monitors, which should be theoretically fixed in this update. If you're playing on a vertical layout, please kindly let us know if this build helps with things!

Quick Drag

Also, some people have reported difficulty dragging items if they don't hold the click long enough.

We've enabled quick-dragging if you have an item selected. To try it out, simply tap on an item to select it. Then try clicking and dragging the item - You'll find that no "holding" delay is required!

Reporting Issues

By the way, you can report bugs if you go to the Settings menu, scrolling down and clicking on "Contact Support". This will open a link to our ticket portal where you can let us know any issues.

Last but not least, if you've spent some your time with the bunnies, we would be so grateful for a Steam review! 🐰🌟 It's really helps us out as a small and independent developer 🥹💖

Best,
Jess

Used to play this on phone but playing it on PC is like chef's kiss feels soo good and no ads!
Love the cute bunnies and their interactions it's quite addictive if you are playing it like a cozy similation instead of idler mode which made me forget my time!

If you love cozy or want something relaxing this is it. Must buy/10...!!!

My Safe Haven Full of Little Fluffy Angels

Looking for the perfect way to unwind after a heavy day? Usagi Shima: Bunny Island is an adorable island-decorating game that attracts fluffy guests. The gorgeous, pastel visuals and soothing music create an atmosphere that is simply hard to pull away from.

A Word from a Huge Rabbit Lover

As a huge rabbit lover, I have to say it out loud: rabbits are human's best friends. This game understands that perfectly. These adorable little angels are incredibly sweet, yet very delicate at the same time. In real life, they require a tremendous amount of attention, and one should take care of them and look after them with the same love and responsibility as they would for their own child. Usagi Shima lets you channel those nurturing instincts onto the screen and create a small, safe paradise for them.

Did you know...? These little angels have remarkable therapeutic properties. Their presence can heal any bad day, bring instant relief, and genuinely support a person in their battle with depression or a low mood.

A visit to this virtual island works exactly the same way – it quiets the mind, calms you down, and brings a genuine smile to your face.

Quick Game Summary:

🟢 Cuteness level: ███████████████ [11/10] 🟢 Graphics (bunnies): ███████████████ [Gorgeous, hand-drawn] 🟢 Music & atmosphere: █████████████ [Very relaxing] 🟢 Complexity: █ [Perfect casual / idle] 🟢 Mood impact: ███████████████ [Heals sadness]

Rating: 10/10

(and a big heart to all our long-eared friends! ❤️🐰)

i've been so excited for usagi shima to release for months now and it was sooo worth the wait. the bunnies and overall artstyle of this game are super duper cutesy, and i love the island decorating aspect of it. this is a lovely game to leave open while you're studying or drawing since it takes a few while to pile up some carrots for the items

my only critic is the repetitiveness of the bun run minigame and would absolutely love more minigames to be added, but besides that, this is a perfect game
