Patch 1.0.2 adds a couple of new quality-of-life options and addresses several issues, including a major memory leak fix.

New

Added Short Restart option to the Settings menu. When restarting, all songs will start with a 4-beat countdown.
Added an option to change the font style between serif and sans-serif in Story.

Fixed an issue where the Online Connect button would sometimes not work
Fixed various typos in Story
Fixed sound issues in Creator Tool
Fixed an issue where graphics settings could be overwritten by Cloud Save

Curious about the importing songs thing

I am aware that custom songs can be added in the game, but I am still confused with the ",asterika" file type thing. I hope anyone can tell me more about this, thanks!

This is a small 1.0.1 patch addressing some Day 1 bugs and issues. Thank you so much for all of your feedback and data. As I squash these bugs, I’ll also continue working on polishing the experience, so please remember that your feedback and ideas are always valuable!

Improved a memory leak issue that could occur during long play sessions

This version is designed to be a quick introduction to Asterika for anyone who wants to experience the game mechanic before buying.

If you've played Asterika's previous demo before, you can also use it to get your settings and calibration ready, and warm up before jumping into the full game.

Most importantly, your progress from the demo will carry over to the full version of Asterika!

Fun game, though I find that the gameplay is much more bullet hell than rhythm game. The difficulty comes from keeping your cool and staying on beat while trying to react to the obstacles, so it's not super mechanically intense.

I really, really like the competitive parts of the game. Seeing the exact stats of the person who is ranked above you in a song is awesome and I love having that edge of motivation. The charts that show your improvement is cool as hell. Big fan.

If you find the prose in Arcaea frustrating (like I do), know that the writing in Asterika takes the same tone, so that's something to watch out for. However, the story itself is interesting enough, and the artwork is cute! I would have liked to see either more illustrations or more polished illustrations but it's the solo dev making all the art so the amount that already exists is very impressive.

My biggest problem with the game so far is performance. Getting hit often kills the frames and results in input delays, which is super duper unsatisfying. Sometimes the frame drops happen simply when there's too many obstacles on the screen. The memory leak issue was patched already but the performance is still struggling. This can't be a game to grind songs in (like the competitive elements want you to) with the current performance issues.

I have 11 hours in the demos for this, so might as well leave a review now.

The rhythm game aspect is fun. The concept is enjoyable, the controls are simple, and the sound design and visuals are great. Plus I don't have to obliterate my hands doing harder charts! The scoring system, both solo and ranked, is also unique and gives the game a nice flair.

I haven't gotten through much the story yet, but it seems interesting enough for now. The localization could use some work, but it's nothing unintelligible.

Overall, thumbs up. There's also a demo to try out if you're unsure.

Constant frame drops and the game in general just feels very off for some reason in the accuracy aspect, sometimes i get only perfects then it just starts draining my hp out of nowhere, fix that and the maybe give it a break on the scuffed hold notes and the game is perfect

What to do about lag spikes?

My PC is easily strong enough to handle Asterika and most of the time it's fine. However, sometimes randomly a lag spike occurs and on the faster songs that can lead to a whole beat getting skipped (counting as a miss). The quality settings don't seem to change anything....

Can't clear missions?

After each run, there's a space showing three missions, usually of the form "Win in under X misses", but it's always locked. I thought it was because the game starts with auto beat assist enabled, but I turned it off and they're still locked. Is this just a demo thing?...

Any chance of custom songs eventually?

I've been loving the game so far! All the songs are SUPER catchy, but it'd be nice to be able to add custom songs with the chart tool. I wanted to play some Vocaloid stuff, so I'm a bit sad that it doesn't seem to be possible right now. I'm not a game development expert or anything so I don't know how tough it would be to actually implement, but is there a chance we would be able to make custom tracks for songs not included in the base game at some point in the future? I think "The Intense Voice of Hatsun...
