Great game, with strong focus on the story.
which is quiet the improvement from dokimon.

The "oni" or mon designs looks great and have some nice variety between them.
Some of them do end up being more human than creature.

Art style is generally what I expect for monmae games,
but with some customs sprites it overla looks great for the game.
Very classic feeling

the game can tend to be a bit grindy.
if you wish to gather everything.
or keep up in levels, but the secrets hidden here and there do end up greatly helping.

It's a decent game for a reasonable price.

While I haven't beaten it yet I have been having a blast play yami kids and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves monster tamers or shin megami tensei like monsters.

Very fun Pokémon-like with a darker plot (people actually die!)

The combat feels good, and you can manually speed up through slow attack animations by holding the action key during battle.

Similar type strength and weakness chart to learn as Pokémon, with Same Type Attack Bonus when using moves of the same type as your Oni. You can easily max out AP (Affinity Points) by winning battles with your Oni, and gain EP (Earned Points) from leveling up that you can redistribute at your leisure.

Another feature I like is how you can rotate learned moves in and out of your Oni skill slots as needed. No worrying about what moves you want to keep through the whole game.

Basically the traditionally grindy technical aspects of building a strong Pokémon is made more simple so you can focus on enjoying the game.
