August is here and summer is in full swing! The heat may be relentless, but we've got some news to make things even hotter!

After sharing our development history, showcasing trailers, and going through hands-on preview sessions with the press... the time has finally come for all of you to experience the game for yourselves!

Starting today, August 20th, the free demo for Chronoscript: The Endless End is live on Steam! 🎉

Thank you for your patience, and we hope you'll enjoy diving into the manuscript pages and exploring the worlds within it this weekend.

In this demo, you'll play through the prologue, from our protagonist, the "editor" Frederick, arriving at the manor and finding himself trapped in the world of the manuscript pages, all the way to his encounter with the mysterious vampire "author," Viola!

You'll explore the game's unique environments, where beautifully hand-drawn 2D stages and a synchronized 3D-rendered manor intertwine. We hope you'll enjoy this fresh gameplay feel for yourselves! The demo offers around 30 minutes of gameplay—but beware: a hidden boss fight awaits along the way, and it's a formidable one that won't go down easy...!

We like to emphasize that what you'll experience this time is merely the "prologue" of the endless story. As you look back on the new stage footage we've shared so far, let your imagination wander to the "proofreading" journey that lies ahead 📖

For those who're looking for a challenge, we've also included "Extra: Boss Challenge Battle" in the demo. A special mode focused on an intense showdown with a powerful boss, unlocked after completing the main exploration! A portion of the main character's skill is unlocked in this mode, letting you take on an even more challenging and exhilarating fight 👿

Controls: Gamepad is recommended for the demo. (* Controller vibration is planned for the full release! Get ready to rumble... 🫨)
Keyboard & Mouse: Keyboard and mouse support is currently at a bare minimum. If you're taking on the challenge with keyboard controls, we'd love your candid feedback on any areas that feel awkward to control 📝
Difficulty: This demo is locked to the dev team's recommended difficulty, but the full release will feature expanded difficulty options and additional settings ⚙️

Hot on the heels of our last Devblog, here comes our third update already! We've reached June, and the signs of full-blown summer are drawing near. Undeterred by the muggy air, we're here to deliver some red-hot news!

Centered on the latest information we revealed at the global gaming event "Summer Game Fest 2026," we've packed this update full of news—new maps, new visuals, and the all-star lineup of creators bringing this game to life alongside us!

■ Latest trailer revealed at the Future Game Show 2026 Summer Showcase and a Fall 2026 release confirmed!

At the Future Game Show 2026 Summer Showcase, we unveiled the latest trailer for Chronoscript: The Endless End! And the moment you've all been waiting for - the game's release window is now set for Fall 2026!

Right now, the whole team is hard at work "editing," determined to deliver the best possible experience to all of you ✒️

We can almost raise the curtain on the story, bare with us just a little longer!

In this trailer, we also revealed a brand-new stage, "Ancient Egypt," for the first time 🏜️

The setting of the story winds back through time—from the modern and medieval eras to an even more distant past ⏳

A labyrinth wreathed in swirling sand, emerging suddenly from the pages of a manuscript. Will our hero manage to escape it…?

■Key Art & 3D character models revealed for the first time!

We've unveiled a key art featuring the two characters at the heart of this game, along with their in-development 3D models, for the very first time!

1. The lonely author who has marked a thousand years of time: Viola S Chambers 🌹

A vampire author cursed with immortality, who has spun "the endless story" across countless eras. Having lost sight of where the tales she carries are meant to end, she clings to an ancient oath and entrusts the "editing" of her own story to the descendant of a certain bloodline.

2.The taciturn editor who will bring a thousand-year story to its close: Frederick G Muller ✒️

The protagonist of this game, who has guided countless stories to their endings. Answering a summons, he visits a secluded manor and finds himself trapped within the world of the manuscript. Confronting the author's anguish and solitude, he reads on, ever deeper into the pages.

A mysterious manor rendered in 3D, and a world of 2D graphics drawn in intricate pen-and-ink. Within this new style of spatial expression where the two dimensions fuse, how will the mysterious client and the elegant editor cross paths—and what kind of journey awaits them? Look forward to a story that unfolds across two dimensions, 3D and 2D.

We're delighted to welcome these wonderful creators, who breathe life into the game's highly original world!

3D Character Design & Modeling Direction: Mari Shimazaki

Major works: Bayonetta, Okami, and more

She has brought out the appeal of the quirky, many-layered "Editor" and "Vampire", not through mere realism, but by pouring in a true sense of "character" and a fine, loving obsession (in the best sense). Production is also moving forward together with sculptor Hiroaki Nakanishi, modeler Mikai Locko, and everyone at Bee Tribe.

Composer: Yasunori Mitsuda

Major works: Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, and more

Led by Mr. Mitsuda, a devoted lover of exploration-based action games, a team of four has joined the project: Shunsuke Tsuchiya and Mariam Abounnasr of Procyon Studio, plus guest composer Aimi Kiyota! With superb sound that lets you feel fresh discoveries and excitement each time the map changes, they bring color to the editor's adventure.

■ BitSummit PUNCH event report

Here's our report on the indie game festival "BitSummit PUNCH"!

At the Shueisha Games booth this time, the Chronoscript team handed out random "Editor" stickers in four poses as novelty goods. To everyone who added us to their Steam wishlist and to everyone who stopped by to say hello: thank you so much!

And at this BitSummit, we also had the chance to meet the development team behind Constance, another exploration-based action game drawing attention from around the world!

As a wonderful surprise, the Constance team actually played Chronoscript! The valuable feedback they gave us boosted the whole team's motivation to keep "proofreading" even further ✒️

Demo/Director of the Damned feedback

Hey all, so enjoyed the demo, nice little slice of the game. This seems to be one of the Metroidvanias where the game wants you commit/plant when you attack, you get animation locked in attack swings so one of the workarounds like always with these games is to land a quick jump attack before landing a ground attack. I've never really enjoyed these because it always felt more like I'm fighting the character, and it also requires you to basically have exact knowledge of the thing you're fighting against ins...

Bad Optimization and Poor UI (Demo)

I loved the artstyle, the gameplay (even if it's pretty simple) , the ost and the controls. But sadly I couldn't enjoy it as much as I would have wanted because of the optimization the game has at the moment. What I specifically mean is that the game in my GTX 1050 (MSI) take at least 6 minutes into loading the game and multiple stutterings while playing with seemingly normal settings. Lowering the settings solves a bit of the issue, but is not until the game takes its time that I can properly pla...

Hopefully not releasing anytime soon

In the nicest way possible this seems like a first draft of a student project game. When you unlock the "Bird's Eye View" the text in multiple spots says "Bug's eye". The double jump segments don't actually get you on the ledge but instead make you awkwardly grab it which works 50% of the time. The end of the jump is weirdly floaty for no reason. The first boss is just a couple of normal bats..... really? The first actual boss is a worm with literally 3 attacks that I was falling asleep battling. The rota...
