I want to say firstly that I have not yet fully completed the game, BUT I can say that this game is truly fcking fun. The artstyle is amazing and is the best part of this game easily. It uses Hotline Miami overworld traversal with Fear & Hunger turn based combat. And since those are two of my favorite games it feels like this game was made for me. It has been so fun so far and for not a lot of money this is a definite buy if you are interested in it at all!!! I just wanted to write this review since there isn't any other reviews up for Scorched Sun as of right now and I wanted to show my support for this game on the day it came out!
UPDATING MY REVIEW NOW THAT I HAVE FURTHER INTO THE GAME:
I now have some major gripes with some mechanics of this game. The combat is quite unforgiving and linear. You just really have to learn which body parts to attack first but that is going to take time and a lot of deaths and reloading to your most recent save, which unsurprisingly is not fun! I do think I am at the ending boss fight of this game but I am basically softlocked. This is because I am on 8 health with no healing items left to use. So i basically have to start the whole game over again and replay the whole fcking thing or hope for impossible luck and have the boss miss EVERY attack they throw out at me. And I was having quite a good bit of fun but this really just dampens my opinion on this game.

I have beaten the game now which did have me go through all of it again. That was unfortunate but I am not all mad about it really! This game truly is fun and charming and I really do like it. The combat does just hit for me even if it is a bit repetitive. Overall please do get this game and get it if it looks interesting to you! it is a good short time!

An enjoyable little game that wears its influences on its sleave. The art style is striking, the atmosphere is oppressive, and the snippets of story are intriguing. Judged as an aesthetic experience, it is a compelling one.

That said I did encounter a bug near the end of the game wherein I couldn't activate one of the lungs in the final area after a reload, which forced me to restart (This bug has since been fixed). And I may have had to restart even if I hadn't encountered that bug, as the item economy can feel rather stingy when approached without foreknowledge.

Truthfully though, my greatest complaint is that I wish there were more. More areas to explore, more enemies to fight or evade, more equipment to find and items to craft, more story to uncover. By the end of Scorched Sun I was just hungry for more Scorched Sun.

Scorched Sun is a really enjoyable horror game, with a few but fun puzzles.
It's a short but interesting game, 100% recomended and 100% worth it for the price.
