Compelling gameplay, incredible voice acting, witty writing, and characters with the power to awaken something in you. 10/10 would play again

This is a interresting take on a survival game with a clean visual design and I quite like it.
It's definitly the vaguest definition of a rogue-like game as the only rogue-like feature is that you reset your weapons each chapter and the rooms are mildly shuffled around. It's still a fun game though

Only problem currently is there is some rather nasty bugs when you use the controller like not being able to select closing window options 33% of the time or not being able to get the gun you bought 80% of the time unless you swap to mouse and keyboard and everything works perfectly.
I trust the developers are on to this however as they have been quick to post bugfixes and will be fixed soon enough.
So maybe hold off for a abit if you really prefer (or in my case need) to use a controller as currently it's abit buggy and will cause frustration

It's very clear that the devs poured a whole lotta heart into this game, especially with the rather quick patches to correct some early issues on first release. If you've played other behind-the-shoulder survival horrors, you'll find this one quite homely. I know comparing new media to established IPs is a bit low-brow, but the simplest way I can explain this game for folks who're just dipping their toes in or are hesitant to give it a try is "furry Resident Evil 4."

The rogue-like gameplay loop is simple and sweet, so if you're looking for something incredibly complex, you're probably not gonna find that here, even with the manual reloading system. It's not too out there or intrusive that it robs from the survival horror aspect, and in fact, meshes quite well with it. The hope to find more ammo for your new preferred gun or get enough coins to unlock another section of the train car isn't terribly tedious and can add a bit of tension as you explore.

As for the controls, they're almost pretty good. A majority of the time the game is quite responsive and tight, but there are small nitpicks, possibly even bugs, on some interactions or movements that slightly detract from the experience. I found that with my more, ahem, "aggressive run-and-gun action hero" runs, I often ended up sprinting in the wrong direction after firing a few shots and trying to maneuver to a better position, and that while trying to kick zombies while both of us were on the stairs would awkwardly miss them (but to be fair, they also missed grabbing me). There were a few times in which I wanted to pick something up, but because loot was too close, I ended up grabbing the wrong thing multiple times, even after dropping it, which would make me shimmy further away to drop it away from the actual loot I want. Slight hiccup in the gameplay, but I imagine it's nothing terribly serious.

There's quite a few inspirations, references, and easter eggs, with some of the more obvious ones being the lootable game cartridges for several other indie projects (very wonderful selection of namedrops, too). There's obviously the big Resident Evil feel, especially with the clinical lab areas of the train. The rusty machinery on the monsters can feel reminiscent of Silent Hill, the setting is very John Carpenter's The Thing... For horror fans, it's an adorable feast for the senses.

For those of you who aren't exactly the bravest bunch and try to avoid getting spooked, this game isn't outright terrifying despite its name, so don't worry about jumpscare central or body horror that'd make Clive Barker (no relation to our protagonist) proud. In fact, I find this entry to be a very good "My First Survival Horror" game for you absolute beginners in the genre. Play it if you love horror, play it if you love furries, and definitely play it to support more fun projects like this one.
