A guy is having a picnic with his family when he falls asleep while relaxing on a float and suddenly finds himself trapped in a strange dream with a gun in his hand. Each run features randomly generated stage layouts, but the environments and enemy designs become repetitive after a while.

Enemies include ducks that charge into you, lizards riding surfboards, giant worm-like bombs, and turrets. Progression follows a straightforward structure, with three regular stages followed by a boss fight that becomes increasingly dangerous as its health decreases. After defeating the boss, you move to a new environment with different enemies and repeat the process until reaching the end.

The gameplay is simple and revolves entirely around shooting, but blindly holding down the trigger is not an option because ammunition is limited. Ammo crates are scattered throughout the stages, and collecting them requires moving directly over them. Although you can head straight for the exit marked by an arrow, killing as many enemies as possible is generally a better strategy if you want to improve your chances of survival.

Defeated enemies drop experience points that must be collected quickly before they disappear. Once you gather enough to fill a circular meter, you can upgrade one of three stats. Damage is arguably the most important, while the other options increase movement speed or provide more fuel for the floater's boost ability. Unfortunately, the game does a poor job of explaining these upgrades. The only indication of improvement is a number increasing next to the selected stat, with no details about the actual bonuses or how much each level adds.

You begin each run with a pistol, but enemies can drop new weapons represented by red icons. Each icon displays two weapon options that rotate every few seconds, giving you a chance to choose between them. Once you make your decision, however, there is no way to switch to the rejected weapon unless you find another weapon drop.

You can carry two weapons at a time, and almost anything is an improvement over the starting pistol. The available arsenal includes a rapid-fire machine gun, a grenade launcher for dealing area damage, a chain-lightning weapon capable of taking out entire rows of enemies, and several other surprises. You can even equip the same weapon in both slots, and collecting ammunition replenishes all equipped weapons.

The roguelite elements come from blue icons dropped by enemies, which grant various perks. Like weapon drops, these present two rotating options, allowing you to choose the one you prefer. Perks can increase your health or damage, give you a chance to heal when collecting experience, add a turret to your floater, and provide various other bonuses. Unlike weapons, however, perks cannot be replaced once selected, so your choices remain with you for the rest of the run.

You can equip up to four different perks, and collecting one you already have increases its level, ensuring that duplicate drops are not wasted. Unfortunately, perks suffer from the same lack of clear information as stat upgrades. The game simply displays a higher number without explaining the actual benefits, leaving you guessing how much extra damage you gain or what exactly improves when upgrading a perk that makes defeated enemies explode.

While the gameplay is easy to understand and pick up, the difficulty is unforgiving. Expect to clear only two or three stages before losing all your health, especially since enemy projectiles deal considerable damage and health packs are too unreliable to depend on. Fortunately, there is some persistent progression between runs, thanks to rare coins occasionally dropped by defeated enemies.

Interestingly, dying sends you back to the pond where the game began, creating the impression that returning there is the ultimate goal. In practice, though, the pond serves as a hub where you can spend your collected coins before starting another run. There are two main ways to use them. The first involves purchasing permanent upgrades, including increased health and damage, reduced incoming damage, and several other bonuses.

There are nine upgrades in total, with some offering five levels and others only two. Since prices increase with every purchase, progression is fairly limited. One of the most useful upgrades to prioritize is the ability to attract experience from a distance. With so many enemies filling the screen, running into dangerous situations just to collect experience is often a recipe for disaster.

The second option is to purchase plushies, which provide additional bonuses when equipped. Several are available, although some require specific conditions to activate their effects. The piggy plushie is particularly useful because it increases experience gains and doubles the coins earned regardless of your performance. The meerkat, on the other hand, grants an additional stat point if you complete a stage without taking damage.

Completing the game once unlocks modifiers that make subsequent runs more challenging. Beyond achievements and the appeal of trying to improve your previous performance, however, there is not much incentive to keep playing. The game initially captures that familiar urge to go for one more run, but the limited variety of content quickly undermines its replay value. Most of what it has to offer becomes apparent early on, leaving subsequent runs feeling more repetitive.
