Quality of Life Update & Balance Adjustments

Hey Rifters!

Today we’re dropping a mini-update focused on adding more "game juice" to the dialogues, polishing the visuals, and making an important character balance adjustment to keep matches feeling smooth.

Here’s what’s new:

Dialogues with more Juice
Typing Rhythm: Text now takes a slight dramatic pause whenever it hits punctuation marks like periods, commas, exclamation points, and question marks (., ,, !, ?). This adds a ton of juice and makes reading feel way better!

Combat Alerts: No more surprises! When a conversation is about to end straight into a battle, the classic [OK] button immediately changes to [FIGHT].

Animated Portraits: To bring more life to the characters, the portrait of whoever is speaking will now dynamically move on screen.

Kyro Adjustment (Balancing)
We noticed that Kyro's support was clearing the top blocks, which pretty much prevented him from properly lowering solid blocks.

Solid Block Immunity: To fix this, Kyro is now immune to solid blocks! For him, these obstacles will behave and be treated exactly like normal blocks.

Bring The Rift Successfully Launched!

The game is finally out!

Hi, I’m ShiroDev, the developer behind *Bring The Rift*. This is my first Steam release—so it probably won't be a massive blockbuster or anything like that—but it means the world to me. After all, it marks the start of an incredible journey as a game developer!

After releasing several small, free projects, I wanted to take a chance on something bigger and start releasing commercial titles. I decided to go for it with this game; it was originally created for a game jam called "None Jam 12." I didn't win the jam, but I grew really attached to the project, so I decided to give it another shot and a full release!

I had a few other projects in mind for my first commercial game, but I ended up liking this one so much that I felt I had to choose it—and so... it happened! After months of hard work, I’ve achieved a result I’m really happy with! It’s not perfect, and I’ll probably have to roll out plenty of fixes soon (hehe), but I promise to address any issues as quickly as I can!

As for feedback... I want it! As much as possible! As soon as possible! I’m all ears, so please tell me what you think of the game and what I could improve! I’ll genuinely read every message you send, analyze it, and implement changes—just as I’ve done with feedback I’ve received in the past! Feel free to post your feedback in the game's forums:

And now, here’s the new trailer I edited for this release :D (It’s not much, but it’s honest work, haha). It took a bit of effort since this isn't my field, but I really tried to make something cool—I hope you like it!

Oh, and before I forget... this is also extremely important—hehe—besides the game launch, it’s my birthday! So, happy birthday to me! I’m releasing this game on this date to thank myself for everything I’ve done to pursue my own dreams and goals, for every milestone reached and every challenge overcome. New demo available for Next Fest!

It has finally begun! Steam Next Fest is officially live!

This is our very first time participating in an event of this magnitude, and honestly, we are incredibly excited. We have dedicated the last few months to preparing the best possible experience for you. If you want to compete, test your skills, and help us shape the future of the game, come check out all the new features we’ve prepared for this special demo!

New Characters Available: Shade & Lisa!

We have expanded the select screen for this festival! Now, you can test your strategies with two new members who bring different dynamics to the gameplay:

Shade: Master of shadows, whose favorite color is Purple.
Lisa: Bringing control and stability, her favorite color is Green.

New AI Under Testing!

Anyone who played the previous demo will definitely notice a shift in how the AI behaves. We have reworked it so it’s not overly complex while still holding its ground during matches without becoming completely overpowered. After all, if the AI is invincible, the game loses its fun!

The previous 10 difficulty settings have been expanded into 15 distinct levels. We are still fine-tuning the balance, but they are far from impossible; in fact, the transition from one level to the next is much smoother now.

Details That Matter (QoL)

We went back to several areas of the game to improve the user interface and Quality of Life:

Clearer Menus: The navigation arrows are now orange, gaining visual prominence and a brand-new responsive animation. It is now much easier to distinguish between selectable options and toggle menus.
Fixed Audio: We blocked unintended interactions within the toggle menus. The game now triggers the correct audio feedback, preventing misclicks.
