I really wanted to like Babel after playing the demo, but unfortunately the full game left me pretty disappointed.

The biggest issue is that the game feels significantly more grindy than the demo. Instead of the extra content adding meaningful depth, a lot of the progression feels like it was stretched out simply to make the game take longer.

The upgrade tree isn't horrible, but it becomes obvious pretty early that only a handful of buildings are actually worth scaling. Once you figure that out, a lot of the choices stop feeling like choices.

Workers are also basically worthless until you unlock the Majesty node. Before that point, investing heavily into them doesn't feel rewarding.

The core gameplay loop never really evolves:

Large cursor → material multiplier → damage → repeat.

Those are essentially the mechanics you're chasing for the entire game. Numbers get bigger, but the way you play doesn't meaningfully change.

I also think the game desperately needs a prestige system after completion. Babel seems like it should have a ton of replayability, but there's very little reason to start over once you've beaten it. A prestige system with permanent bonuses, new modifiers, additional upgrades, or alternate progression paths could add a lot.

What disappoints me most is that the demo left a lot to wonder about what was coming next. It felt like the foundation for a game that was going to keep introducing new mechanics and expanding on its systems.

Unfortunately, that "next layer" never really came.

The game isn't terrible, and there's definitely a good foundation here. But compared to what I expected after the demo, the full release feels more like the same mechanics stretched across a much longer grind rather than those mechanics being meaningfully expanded.

There is a good game here. It just needs more depth, better late-game progression, and a reason to play again.

A good game, very fun early game, good UI, mechanics are explained.

Eventually (around the time when auto selection of buildings becomes viable) it falls for the same trap as many other incremental game - suddenly new upgrades become meaningless. You start buying new upgrades without bothering to understand what they do - there's no need for you to know anyway.

spent my whole night on this, i hate my life now. Because of the lack of sleep, not the game. 10/10 would recommend
