A new way for the world to discover and experience RPG in a Box is arriving on the web! The initial goal is to get the Model Maker fully functioning (with an interactive tutorial built into the editor) so everyone can see how fun and simple it is! There's not much there quite yet, but feel free to give it a try and plop down some voxels! 😊

For anyone who missed the previous announcement, I have a forum thread where you can follow along with the journey to RPG in a Box 2.0! This thread has a lot of info about the upgrade to Godot 4, as well as the progress made so far on NPC free movement.

I frequently post on the forum and interact there, so it's the best place to ask questions, whether support related or if you're interested in learning more about something. As most are probably aware, I'm no longer active on Discord after having closed the official server around a year ago (though if you prefer Discord, Slayer of YouTube tutorial fame is graciously running a community server here[discord.gg]). Since then I've been focused on building and growing the official forum so that more information can become publicly available to the entire community and be indexed by search engines.

One of the latest devlog updates was to show the Game Manager using the new Murasaki Dreams theme that was created for the upgrade to Godot 4! As seen in the screenshot below, I wanted something that fit better with the spirit of RPG in a Box - something fresher and more fun! 😊

I went into RPG in a Box looking for a fun way to learn about game development. I just wanted to play around and make a few small things in my spare time. The tutorials made the engine look accessible. The community look small and supportive… Unfortunately, the MacOS version isn't really supported. It's riddled with big and small bugs. Things don't run. Core functionality is represented in the UI but doesn't work. The UI it's self is fiddly and unreliable. Worst of all, it doesn't seem to get better with new releases. Instead there are regressions. Old bugs remain while things that previously worked break. When there are error messages, they aren't helpful. Each time I have some time to sit down to learn a little and play a little I end up debugging the app instead.

Today I can't run any of the Workshop Adventures.
Clicking a color in the model editor color pallet selects the color in the row below it.

Both of these things have worked correctly in the past.

I haven't made anything. I haven't learned anything. I give up.

Linux help

I'm having trouble getting this to work on Linux. From searches I've done it seems like it should work but I must be missing something. When I run native Linux I can launch the application, go into the editor, but any time I try to quickplay a project, or play a game from my library the games quickly crash back to the RPG in a Box menu. When I try running proton I CTD whenever I try an select a game or project (I've tried several versions of GE proton, regular proton, and experimental). Any help is gre...
