phenomenal work on properly unearthing a cult classic off of a platform it was glued to for nearly 20 years. getting it for free for owning the hell that was the "HD Remaster" is like an early christmas present.

Thanks for the free upgrade!

THIS is how you make long term fans by not screwing over the people who supported you originally!

Game is fun and unique too and i will now be buying the remaster of the first game ASAP simply because of this gesture, take notes future remaster teams.

Edit*: Just went back and played a good chunk of the old version on steam after finishing this game to better apreciate what this port set out to do and HOLY MOLY it's night and freaking day! This game is a masterpiece and the old version was absolute dog water. great freaking job Atooi!

Dementium II rerelease was not on my 2026 bingo card, but here we are.
There was a "Dementium II HD remaster" released on here some time ago and while I appreciate what they wanted to do, it just didn't capture the same experience. I wondered if it was nostalgia and I don't think it was, that version just felt a bit stiff with everything and unfinished and lots of others felt the same way.

I was surprised to see they were doing a pretty much straight DS to PC port and they did an excellent job with it. This is exactly that. I guess it could be counted as a remaster, the textures and everything are upscaled and they have some tiny QOL stuff, like updated controls and whatnot. The cutscenes retain the original DS quality so they look and sound very rough blown up on an HD PC screen. Hopefully those will get redone in time. The mouse feels a bit weird at first, but after realizing it's emulating how the DS touch screen works, it's hard to complain about that. Once you get used to it, it's not so bad. And then once you get ahold of weapons with the crosshair, you can really see and feel how it works and it's pretty smooth. You also get some filter options, like hi res (default), CRT, and CRT hi res. Overall very simple rerelease but a very welcome one. One of my favorite "Action Horror" games of all time. Time to finish it yet again. Here's to hoping this does well and we get some of the OG devs to do a modern Dementium 3.

Also, HUGE thanks to Atooi for making this FREE for all owners of Dementium II HD!! I was ready to pay the $15 for this and then saw that it was already in my library, to my surprise. Totally worth it.
