Best Way is a game development studio and software company specializing in real-time strategy (RTS) and tactical games. We develop our own games and provide support to developers using the GEM Engine by offering licensing, development assistance, and technical guidance.

The GEM Engine is a powerful game engine developed by Best Way, designed to create highly detailed and dynamic games with advanced AI, physics, and real-time tactical gameplay.
GEM Engines differences and supported platforms

Calling all GEM Editor users!

Today we’re asking for your help with something that may seem small on paper but makes a big difference in practice. It’s about choosing a new icon style for the GEM RTS Editor.

Updating icons might look like a minor task. Especially compared to everything else happening in development right now. But these are the elements you interact with every single time you open the GEM Editor. So we want to get them right.

We're refreshing the editor interface to better support modern displays. One part of this update is a brand new icon set. The icons are now built as vector graphics (SVG). That means they stay crisp at any UI scale and resolution. At the same time, we want the icons to feel familiar. You should still recognize your tabs at a glance.

We've prepared four style options for the new icons. Now we need your help choosing the direction.

Here's how you can take part

First, join the Best Way Discord Server[discord.gg], then open the voting thread

  • Choose your favorite style and cast your vote.

  • Guess the icons (in thread with vote)
    Try to match each numbered icon with the editor tab you think it represents.
    You can also share what detail led you to that answer. Don't worry about getting everything right. Wrong guesses are just as useful to us as correct ones.

  • Flag what's unclear (also in thread with vote)
    If an icon doesn't read clearly to you, simply mention its number in the comments. No explanation required.

Your feedback will help us understand which style the community prefers, whether the new icons are easy to recognize, and which ones need further improvement.

One more thing. Keep a close eye on these icon sets. The most attentive among you may notice something else hidden there.
