The World Is All That Is the Case

Greetings, my fellow Frenchmen! I bring news of glorious victory!

After my last announcement, I quickly assembled a portion of the Army of Champagne and marched toward the rebel base, which was guarded by over 1,000 men. They were led by the notorious Marc de Rampaygne, a former lord who despises the current regime. With him were 7 units of spearmen, 8 units of regular infantry, 3 units of archers, and 1 unit of elites, which probably remained with him when his land was confiscated. I arrived with my bodyguards, 13 units of Armored Sergeants, and 6 units of archers.

The battle began with the enemy marching out of the fort to intercept my ram unit. Fortunately, 4 units of Sergeants were nearby to repel the enemy. The remaining Sergeants scaled the walls via the 2 ladder units that placed the ladders near the gatehouse. After 25 minutes of fighting, the gatehouse and the courtyard were captured, cornering the enemy in the plaza.

Marc de Rampaygne realized that the battle wasn't turning out in the way he wanted. He gathered his remaining troops in the plaza, where he made his last stand. His elites forced 3 of my Sergeants to flee the battle, but quick thinking by the individual leaders of my Sergeants routed the elites. For 37 minutes, both sides fought fiercely for control of the fort.

The end came when Marc de Rampaygne was killed by one of his subordinates in an attempt to escape punishment. The rest of the battle resulted in 300 rebels being captured while the rest were killed or wounded. the prisoners now reside in the dungeons to await le Roi's verdict. The fort is also awaiting le Roi's decision to either keep it or destroy it.

In light of this victory, we have recovered 5,000 florins from the assulted caravans hidden in Marc's bed room. Also, we have gathered up any enemy equipment worth value to be sold as well, totaling the profits to 8,000 florins, which will be shipped to le Roi's throne room for his cut. The rest shall be divided amongst the soldiers and their families who fought and died for le Roi and France.
