Vanilla Gameplay | 30 tick | Custom Campaigns | DDOS Protection

Servers hosted in Virginia. Firewall rules to mitigate low-bandwidth DOS attacks that exploit SRCDS. You do not need to join this group to utilize these servers.

The first 6 servers are reserved for Steam Group members or anyone that uses mm_dedicated_force_servers down below. The last 12 servers will be publicly accessible by random Best Available Dedicated lobbies.

Rules

PCS encourages users to use the votekick and Steam profile blocking functions, as we do not accept player reports. This does not mean players can't be banned from the servers.

It is recommended to select "Steam Group Servers" and selecting a server hosted by us. If you don't prefer that method, you could use "Best Available Dedicated" combined with "mm_dedicated_force_servers" in your autoexec:

2 New Plugins On The Servers

I am introducing 2 new plugins onto the server, a plugin that fixes versus players being passed dying tanks and a plugin that adds stat tracking to the servers.

Currently in Vanilla, if a Tank player leaves as they die, it will pass the tank to another Infected player, causing them to be stuck as a dying tank until they "bleed out" their 6'000 health from the incap animation. To circumvent this, I have made a plugin that detects if a Tank is in the "dying" while passing, and if it is, the dying tank will be killed. Hopefully this does not cause any issues since it was only tested for a short while.

The next plugin I have added to the servers is a very big plugin that I have been programming for the past 4 weeks. You can access it and it's features using the following commands:

/smvp - Prints your survivor stats.

This command will show you your survivor stats in chat for the round. I plan to later add Special Infected stats, as well as printing more stats to your console. Only you will see your own stats.

/smvpoptions - Toggle features/announcements

This command will pop up a menu that will enable/disable certain features I've included in the plugin. Such as automatically printing your survivor stats at the end of the round to you. As well as printing Special Infected kills, or Tank damage during Tank fights.

The plugin is extremely huge, and I plan to keep adding more and more stats to track with it. I do ask that you use the stats for fun with friends, and not to just trash on others.

Deploying New Plugin To Servers

I programmed a new plugin to help combat people that spam name changes, as well as printing out their userid (#-) during a name change so that people can target them.

How do you use the userid to target them?:

* (#6) Xbye changed name to Monkey

In console, you would type:

callvote kick 6

Now, name spammers won't be clogging up chat and people (and admins) can still easily target them to kick/ban if desired.

The plugin seemed stable enough from testing, so hopefully no server issues.

I've been attempting to host matches recently on Custom Versus and Campaign, but each time I initiate a match with people, the server bugs out and each person's client crashes/kicked out of the server. This has happened within the span of the last couple of weeks. Is there any recent differences in the servers that might have caused this? I'm willing to do testing as I play every night. Please contact if I can assist in any way. Have sysadmin experience, but never messed with L4D2 server software specifically.

Unfortunately the servers have been getting hit with a lot of DDOS attacks. Our host has been catching them but as always with these kinds of things they aren't perfect. I've taken note of the attack. If it happens again, I'll put in a support ticket knowing that the service is being affected.

seems like server(s) were affected by DoS attacks, we were playing dead air on server #8; 147.135.1.26:27027

+rep Servers are great. Simple versus with custom campaigns, no extra BS, feel that is what most would search for on PC. Only suggestion I'd ask for is a map vote in-game. Doesn't need to include the huge list but the common ones if possible.
