Let's pretend you are anchoring some bomb site, CT side. You misread the radar or you're too excited as soon as you hear gunfire so you rotate right away, allowing a lurk to follow your footstep and get the kill on your teammate who's looking down mid.
Now you get on the other site, you get 2 kills, that you essentially steal from your teammates that already had that site on lockdown. In CS those are called unimpactful kills. Your kills were kills that the team would of had nonetheless.
So you are +2 and the mid guy is -1. A simpleton (you) would see this and think, hey +2 is much better than -1. The truth is, you're ♥♥♥♥ and you shoudl stfu. I hope this helps.
