Paradox Interactive has built an entire franchise on historical grand strategy, yet their officially endorsed moderators on Discord have proven to be not only historically illiterate, but actively hostile toward their own player base. The recent censorship and banning of Turkish players for merely using profile pictures of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk—under the pretext of absurd historical fabrications—exposes a disgraceful double standard that can no longer be ignored.

Labeling Atatürk as "controversial" and maliciously linking him to the 1915 events is a failure of basic historical comprehension:

In 1915, Mustafa Kemal was a frontline military commander (Lieutenant Colonel of the 19th Division) deployed at Gallipoli (Çanakkale), fighting the British and ANZAC invasion forces thousands of kilometers away from Eastern Anatolia. He held zero administrative, political, or executive authority in the Ottoman government's deportation decisions made by the Committee of Union and Progress.

Atatürk went on to found a secular, progressive republic that separated mosque and state, gave women universal suffrage decades ahead of most European nations, and championed the doctrine of "Peace at home, peace in the world." In 1981, UNESCO officially commemorated his centenary as an exceptional reformer and an advocate of world peace.

Atatürk is literally a playable head of state in Hearts of Iron IV. Banning a player for having the avatar of a leader you actively sell in your game makes a mockery of your own rules.

The official Discord server claims to enforce a strict policy against "controversial political figures." Yet, players with avatars of Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin, and colonial warlords roam freely with total immunity:

Winston Churchill engineered policies directly responsible for the 1943 Bengal Famine—which starved over 3 million people to death—and authorized chemical agents and brutal crackdowns against anti-colonial movements across Africa and the Middle East.

Joseph Stalin executed the Great Purge, engineered the Holodomor, and exiled millions to the Gulag system.

Why is Churchill celebrated as a harmless symbol of victory, while the founder of modern Turkey is arbitrarily branded as "offensive"? This is not neutral rule enforcement; it is Eurocentric selective morality and preferential treatment. Western colonial violence is normalized and sanitized under the guise of "WW2 roleplay," while Turkish history is subjected to ignorant stereotypes and prejudice.

Paradox Interactive has no issue selling DLCs centered on Turkey to monetize the Turkish community. Yet, when Turkish players step in to correct factual errors, their messages are deleted, their voices are silenced, threads are locked, and their accounts are banned. Silencing a community after smearing its founding figure is peak cowardice.

Until Paradox Interactive removes compromised moderators, issues a formal clarification, and applies an objective, non-discriminatory standard across all its official platforms, this game does not deserve a positive review.

Fix your moderation, hold your staff accountable, and stop treating historical ignorance as server policy.
