Creative Source engine nerdery

Doing the impossible... Because we don't know better!

My group dedicated to creating things in various source engine games. Anything goes, from machinima stuff, animations, maps, models, some specific stuff like vscript things for tf2 or l4d2 (currently there's no one who's proficient in those though) or lua scripts for gmod.

Suggestions to co-op some other games (non source too) are welcome, however don't expect those to be often.

I've made a Video Entertainment Thread to share cool videos in, which already had couple of posts on the day it was created. Feel free to share cool stuff you've found there, though do make sure to post your own works you want to share in the subforums related to sharing them. (for Source engine stuff and for the rest)
Thespikedballofdoom has shared Blender NPR stuff, a video that covers some neat stylized Blender renders and the tricks authors used to achieve them
I've added some more materials to the Materials to learn Python with thread, mainly companion sites for some of the linked books with chapters that didn't get in the book, as well as a link to the "Little book of semaphores", for those interested in specifics of parallel processing, and specifically the semaphore pattern that's used for locking data in threads to prevent damage being done during race conditions (at least that's I recall it being used for? feel free to correct me as I'm unsure there)

The Gallery

Inspirations thread got a music video shared by Thespikedballofdoom.
Currently there's no submissions in the gallery, but perhaps I'll put some stuff in there this autumn. Though, I don't really like giving promises as I don't believe I do end up doing good on them.

Steam Group Events

I've originally wanted to bring this up in the Forum Happenings announcement, but I forgot

I've wanted to give a try to hosting some group events, so far I think just a chat event every second Saturday will do for a start. Idea was to have some stuff to do for willing group members to hang out and perhaps to get to know each other better, or just have fun. Maybe later on there would be some game events, but that's for later.

As for what the chatting will be about? I've been thinking to set a main topic for them to kick off an event with, and then see where it goes from there. For the first chat, I've just thought to have it so we may talk about whatever projects we're working on, or are planning to do next, which I think could be cool to hear about.

there's an option to allow comments to no one, which probably handles this section + announcements comments. but i think i'll keep it for members so far

i dunno what purpose group comments serve. ig it's a remnant from times when steam group chats worked like IRC chats. so what good it is now? as there's forums and announcements and newer group chat. does anyone know what use can this have other than meme/spam hell like in other groups?
